Self collision and occlusion has now been implemented after the problem discussed in the previous post was solved. In Figure 1 A) shows the side and top projection of a L-system without these features implemented. B) Shows self collision and occlusion implemented on the same L-system. Branch growth is now affected by the tree itself with neighbour branches restricting growth and light availability to their neighbours. Figure 2 A, B, C and D, show a tree grown with no self collision and occlusion. This creates a bunching in between the branches. In E, F, G, H collision and occlusion is enables. Branches which are closest to the wall are now also shaded by the tree which causes their growth to be much more restricted. Finally Figure 3 shows how the effect self collision and occlusion on leaf development. A) has collision and occlusion disabled whereas in B) it is enabled. |
