Here are some of the initial tests in getting the phototropism behaviour in my L-Systems. As the images ( Figure 1 and 2 ) show the it is currently very crude. All the algorithm does is determine which side the most light is coming from and then grow towards that direction. If the light in both directions is the same then the branch will grow upwards. This is not what I want as the end result. Next I think I will try keeping track of each branches preferred angle and rotate it back to this position rather than growing straight up. Figure 3 shows the results on a tree object and clearly it is wrong. Some branches are rotating towards the shade. The reason for this is that the rotations for phototropism are being calculated using the local rotation function where as I need these rotations to be in world space. |
